December, 2016

In December of 2000, I spoke at an assembly at Cypress Elementary School in San Bernardino. This one event, miraculously, turned into our Exceeding Expectations program. Recognizing the great need of the folks in this community and believing in the generous spirit that abounds in our own communities, we stepped in with the hope that, together, we could help these kids and their families in some way.

In December of 2016, our roster includes 50 kids in elementary through high school, 10 kids in college, three university graduates, one career Marine, one small business owner, and a great many involved parents. In the early days, I could only have dreamed of this kind of result and I thank every one of you for the part you’re playing in making this program work.

Although EE is most visible when we’re racing, you supporters all know that racing and developing athletes is not what this program is all about. It’s about education, which is the key to changing their lives.

Education is, and always will be, our number one goal. But racing is a critical component in accomplishing this goal. And with the larger number of kids in the program and our college expectations for each of them, the costs of this program have increased dramatically over the years. And, personally, I hope our costs continue to grow, as more and more of our kids head off to college. Therefore, fund-raising will always be a necessary part of the program.

I never want to overburden you, and at this time am simply asking for EE to be on your list of potential recipients if you're in the process of researching ways in which you or your business can help others during this time of year or are looking to make a donation as part of your year-end tax planning.

Our foundation is a non-profit 501(3)c, which means that your donation is fully tax deductible (Tax ID 20-4227809). And, with the single exception of insurance, we have no administrative costs of any kind, and no paid staff. Every penny we receive goes directly to help the kids.

If you chose to contribute, you can do it by check, made out to “Exceeding Expectations” and sent to:

Exceeding Expectations

31855 Date Palm Dr., Ste 3-505

Cathedral City, CA 92234-3100

Or, you can donate securely on-line through our website, www.eefoundation.org

Thanks in advance for your consideration and for your ongoing support of the kids, financially or otherwise. And remember to use AmazonSmile when you’re making online purchases. Every time you buy, EE gets a little hit – and it all helps!

BTW – December is a big month for EE. Watch for upcoming stories and pictures of several events, including our annual year-end Awards & Scholarship party.

Happy Holidays,

Cherie
